Every governmental system must set forth parameters for the taxation and the intended use of those funds. The same is true for Littleton City Council and other entities representing the city of Littleton.
As you may know, the Littleton City Council is preparing for the upcoming election, with a ballot initiatives that would increase the city sales tax from 3% to 3.75%. As an impending depletion of capital projects fund within the next four years, the initiative will be used to fund investment in Littleton’s future. The allocation of the investment will be used to improve and update items such as vehicle fleet, roads, building infrastructure and most more.
I understand the sacrifice this sales tax may represent to many members of our community. I wholeheartedly agree with this increase, I also believe that Littleton City Council must be transparent in the use of the funds.
